One such title, is “Carmel A Timeless Place” written by Steve Shapiro and published by Central Coast Press.  About local History, Urban Development, Architecture, and Travel.  Mostly a picture book, with a brief history of the urban development of an Artist Community.

Born in 1944 in Bridgeton, New Jersey Steve Shapiro graduated Burlingame High after the family moved to California in the early 1950′s. A 1969 UCLA graduate student in theater arts, film due to his friend Ansel Adams’ recommendation, Shapiro, a thirty year-plus Carmel resident had his first book “Carmel – A Timeless Place” published by Central Coast books in July 1998.  Writing about photography and as a journalist, Shapiro published major works on photographic history especially the argument on the image versus the print in a British Journal, Photographica World to which he regularly contributes. Of the permanent collections that house Shapiro’s work from one man shows, the US Navy, Seabee’s Museum at Port Hueneme, Calif. have “The Peacetime Navy,” and the Smithsonian Institution.  Steve is involved in community; contributing the benefit of his perspective with the intention of sharing what he “sees” for the betterment of our world.  (http://www.steve-shapiro.net/index.htm)

Recently in the news we’ve been hearing that there is a 13th constellation called Ophiuchus.  It’s bringing up questions about what sign you might really be?  What does it really mean if you are a Pisces in Western Astrology and a Libra in Eastern Astrology?

I have asked Elizabeth if she would be willing to hold a discussion group for our community.  For those of you
who haven’t met her, Elizabeth Bathora is an expert in astrology and is excited to help facilitate personal

A local radio station had someone interviewing people on the beach. Bella was asked to comment since the Earth is really in the hands of those who are now children. The experience was riveting. Not like a Discovery channel episode with spectacular photos.  More like the kind of experience one is somehow at a loss for words to share. It was free. It took about an hour. It will never  be forgotten. I’m so glad we took the time and shared the experience. According to the docent, the whale will be there for  several more weeks. It is located at the Bean Hollow beach on Hwy 1 North of Santa Cruz about 30 minutes.

Pilgrim’s Way- What “gift” do you recommend to people that you feel is a gift to the world?

Dave- The “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Parmahansa Yogananda.  That pretty much sums it up for me.  That book gave me the most joy because it opened up endless possibilities for me.  I think it is the most powerful spiritual book I’ve found.

PW- What motivated you to become part of the staff at Pilgrim’s Way?

D- The Pilgrim’s Way is the spiritual heart of this peninsula and I want to be part of it.

PW- Where did you grow up?

D- Los Angeles.

PW- What did your mother and father do?

D- My Dad was a railroad man for the Santa Fe Railroad.  My Mom was a house wife.

PW- What was your most memorable job?

D- That would be when I was the manager of the Big Sur Lodge General Store.

PW- What is your favorite book or author and why?

D- Aside from the Autobiography of a Yogi, it would definitely be The Film Encyclopedia by Ephrain Katz.  It’s the bible for all films.

PW- What is you favorite word?

D- Hope.

PW- What is your least favorite word?

D- Does George W. Bush count as a single word?  Well, ok; then gossip.

PW- What turns you on?

D- The future.

PW- What turns you off?

D- Negativity.

D- The sound of water moving like an ocean or stream.

D- Elevator music.

D- A Reference Librarian.

R – At a very young age, maybe 7 years old; I could actually sense what people were feeling and thinking.  My mother was gifted and mentored me.

R – “What is my life purpose?”

PW – What inspired you to become a psychic consultant professionally?

R- I would say my mother and changing people’s lives was really rewarding.

R- I kind of say I prefer “spiritual coach” and I love skeptics so I tell them something themselves no one else knows.

R- The people, the environment and their reputation.

Cynthia- Miguel Ruiz “Four Agreements” because to change the world we start with ourselves.  This book is brief clear and practical.  I’m looking forward to reading his newest book, “The Fifth Agreement”.

C- To share a life with Paul and to be part of a growing community of Life and Nature lovers.

PW- Where did you grow up?

C- Southern California.

PW- What did your mother and father do?

C- My Dad was an incredibly creative person.  He was a fisherman and an artist having grown up in the islands, but for trade he was a roofer, bus-driver, and his last business was machinist and tool & dye maker.  My Mom was a fabulous gardener and cook when she was the primary homemaker.

PW- What was your most memorable job?

C- Well, probably when I was a glass blower; but I really like driving a for lift too!

PW- What is your favorite book or author and why?

C- I have so many… I love a book that can meet me where I am and take me on a journey to a more expansive place.  I want to have an experience that I come back to my world changed.  I guess one of those books for me was Dan Millman’s “The Way of the Peaceful Warrior”.  It’s old now but nevertheless powerful.

PW- What is you favorite word?

C- Harmony.

PW- What is your least favorite word?

C- Can’t.

PW- What turns you on?

C- People who are fully alive.

PW- What turns you off?

C- Complacency.

C- The sound of birdsong in the open air.
